12 trends seen at Milan Design Week 2025
It is a date marked on the calendar every year, and is that the Salone del Mobile in Milan is the great annual event of design, interior design and decoration worldwide. In this fair is where you can see what will be worn, what no longer, what changes and what inspires from now on.
In this article, we tell you everything that the Molins team has seen at the Salone del Mobile and also outside it, because during that week the Italian city becomes the world capital of design.
All the trends we have seen at Milan Design Week 2025
The first thing we can say is that it confirms what we had already been sensing: design takes a radical turn and bets on the total contact with nature, the emotional, the handmade and the sustainable.
In general terms, we can say that design at all levels will be guided by the search for the essential, the imperfection, the connection with nature and the awakening of the senses.
1. Textures that invite touching
Furry fabrics are worn in all kinds of applications, from sofas to tables and even wall coverings. The touch of warmth, drama and even fantasy they bring is capable of transforming any space.
Upholstered pieces have regained their role as key elements in elevating the decoration of any space.
2. Murano glass has made a comeback
This technique has been reinvented, and 2025 is the year of its rebirth. This traditional and renowned technique has been completely reinterpreted, claiming its role in contemporary design with new volumes, colors and unexpected uses.
One of the outstanding brands that represented the resurgence of this technique through its proposals was Hermès with its colorful vases for the home collection.
3. Celestial bodies and cosmic inspiration
Fascination with the cosmos is another trend that is gaining momentum, albeit in a more ethereal form. Constellations, eclipses, orbits and lunar glow are the inspiration for many of the new pieces and collections in the world of design, especially in the lighting sector.
An example of this inspiration from the cosmos is Davide Groppi‘s “Moon” suspended lamp in the photograph.
4. “Curated Apartment”
The concept of a home with every detail and attention to detail is the mantra to follow in interior design. Gone are the days of cold, abstract home design, giving way to a home that becomes a story, a narrative, a flowing whole that is fully connected and tells a story.
Complete, intimate and emotional scenarios are created, where each piece of furniture, object or textile is part of a narrative.
5. Back to the 70's
The aesthetics of the 70s returns with force, but in a way of reinterpretation, combining nostalgia with modernity.
In fact, many brands have presented the reissue of some of their most mythical pieces from that time.
6. Deep and warm tones
In terms of chromaticism, the trend is for the spaces to be dressed with a palette of warm and enveloping colors, highlighting tones, mustard, terracotta, olive green and chocolate brown, nuanced with soft Mediterranean references and timeless colors that bring serenity.
Neon colors and bold contrasts have also been seen that give a touch of dynamism and energizing to the interior design as proposed by Seletti.
7. Use of natural stones
A clear trend that comes with much force and is that in the Salone del Mobile has seen a lot of stone and is that both its visual impact and its natural origin make it an element you see for yourself.
It has also been seen a lot as a complement to other materials such as wood, which has also been very present.
8. Asymmetric and irregular curves
The use of curves and sinuous lines still reigns in the design world and now, if something is clear is the trend for the irregular and asymmetric curve. The design focuses on imperfection and irregular strokes in all their splendor.
9. Furniture and braided cladding
Especially in outdoor furniture, the shapes and braided textures are the must of the season. Coatings that completely cover a surface with this texture and even furniture for the interior have also been seen.
10. Furniture of voluptuous forms
From sofas, tables or armchairs, all in sinuous and curved shapes, obviously the large size and volumes mark the design of the furniture that adopt an enveloping aesthetic of sculptural air, providing warmth, comfort and a strong aesthetic load.
To all this, add texture to the touch, using materials such as velvet, chenille, bouclé, thick wool or soft leather.
11. Voluminous suspended lamps
Hanging lamps of large dimensions and sculptural airs that remind us of another era return with great force. The spaces are dressed again with luminaires that decorate and bring a lot of personality to the room.
Lighting always has a very prominent role in this fair, and in this edition we highlight the return of striking ceiling luminaires that combine art and functionality.
Also, we have seen a lot of the combination of different lamps, creating interesting games of lights and shadows, as we see in the proposal of Moooi.
12. Outdoor lighting inspired by nature
As for outdoor lighting, the bet is clear: that any element is totally camouflaged with the environment.
In outdoor luminaires, the concept of connection with nature is very present, and the new proposals for luminaires with bet on a clear inspiration in plant elements such as mushrooms, reeds, branches, etc.

The interior design trends that we will see in the coming months are committed to connect with the sensory, the playful and the emotional. Design goes far beyond the functional: it is about creating atmospheres that move us, invite us to imagine and, above all, make us feel.
