Before & After: Girona House
Interior design project from scratch for a house in Girona. How to transform a home still under construction into a ready, comfortable and functional home for a family.
Keys to the Project
Clients contact Molins Design for an interior design project from scratch in Girona. The objective is to transform this 250 m² house, with a lot of potential and incredible views, into your new home.
Below, you will see step by step how the change from a house still under construction to one that is completely ready, comfortable and functional for a family has been.
The modern Mediterranean-style house presents a symmetrical and balanced design with a smooth façade and anthracite gray aluminum carpentry.
A facade with an architecture of clean and defined lines in which the arrangement of windows and doors follows a uniform pattern with the aim of maximizing the functionality and efficiency of the space.
Design and distribution in an open plan
The general distribution of the house is described on a main floor. It contains the entire day area that openly connects the hall with the living-dining area and the open kitchen.
On the upper floor there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Finally, the house has a basement where the parking and different service areas are located.
An open day area with views to the outside
Without barriers or separations, but with three clearly delimited areas in which the furniture elements themselves create the limits between the different sequences.
Thus, in the intermediate area, behind the curvature of the custom-made sofa, there is a small dining area that leads us to a third area: the open kitchen with a central island. All without forgetting the glass window that penetrates into the garden.
A new design for the interior wooden staircase
Quite an interesting challenge, since a considerable height had to be raised in little floor space. A whole series of compensated steps, which forced us to describe an interior wooden staircase in a helical shape.
A highly complex geometry that we chose to solve with the traditional technique of plaster modeling. Counting on the work of a local artisan who, as a sculptor, masterfully solved the execution of this unique piece.
