Before & After: Riam Apartment

Located in the Pedralbes neighborhood of Barcelona, Riam Apartment becomes one of the most sophisticated homes in the area architecturally. The reform for this luxury penthouse in Barcelona includes elements of maximum innovation.

The construction of open spaces was the main objective for the reform of this house. Increase the feeling of spaciousness, gain in order and practicality was essential. All this, so that the distribution of this luxury penthouse in Barcelona became a jewel of interior design.

Starting with the entrance hallway, we decided to go for glass openings through sliding doors. The materials chosen, both in terms of flooring and backlit ceilings and coffered ceilings, were essential to create an orderly and balanced entrance hall.

Originally, the kitchen had a large column that cohesioned the distribution of the room. To adapt it to a much more practical and functional design, we used this architectural element as a centerpiece to accommodate the cooking area and the high kitchen bar. Thanks to the use of materials with smooth lines, we achieved a spectacular result. The countertop, the cooking area and the rest of the furniture combine perfectly in a kitchen with simple lines and a chromatic range in neutral tones.

The living room becomes the most attractive and functional room of the house. Connected to the entrance hall, this living-dining room communicates with a spacious office for teleworking. In this work space we find a suspended bookcase, custom-made, and a work table that combines perfectly with the rest of the furniture in the living room. At the same time, and to achieve the degree of privacy it deserves, there are large sliding glass doors with wooden slats Lualdi that generate a sense of Japanese style screen. Element that separates visually and acoustically both spaces.

The reform of this luxury penthouse in Barcelona has the complete intervention of a suite of generous proportions. In fact, the useful meters of several rooms were used to create a generous master bedroom with gym, a large dressing room and a bathroom. Without partitions or screens, we find an open space with all luxury of details. In addition, its decoration combines perfectly with the contemporary and minimalist style, providing comfort and warmth.

At the decorative level, the artistic proposal for the Riam Apartment is defended by a confluence of styles, where the interior design of sober and minimalist lines converges with a commitment to sophisticated textures and materials.

Certain reminiscences to the cinematographic style of Tom Ford’s films, with references to the “look” of the late 50’s, write the aesthetic script of most of the project.
