reforma integral terraza

We love to do those before and after. Somehow they help everyone to see the process we have seen. Today we focus on the chill out terrace reform that we carry out on a rooftop in the highest area of Barcelona.

Prior to our intervention there was no approach other than having a classic exterior space, little used and surrounded by high concrete walls. Broadly speaking, our approach broke with these walls, turning them into glass railings to enjoy the views from any level. We also created a new pergola and placed an exterior sofa set of tones consistent with the general script.

How to approach the decoration of large terraces

This was a point that we discussed with the client at the time of starting the interior design project. Well, the space was ideal to create a chill out zone and to completely reform the terrace.

As you can see, the change is drastic. Not only about functionality, also in terms of its limits and appearance. We eliminated the main protective wall and replaced it with a glass and wrought iron railing, which protects but does not hide the views from a lower point, relaxed on those outdoor sofas.

The floor was another key point to improve, not only because the level problems, it was because aesthetics too, and lastly for how the light and the final air that it provides affect it. For all these improvements we chose to place timbertech, an elegant material that protects from moisture and is extremely durable, so it is one of the best options for paving exteriors.

In general, thanks to this reform, we created a new living space in this house, especially pleasant in the summer, although its enjoyment is guaranteed throughout the year thanks to the protection elements and the exterior structure. We have always loved to versatilize the spaces in our interior design projects and that the use of them is maximum.

As you can see, the change is huge. Not only in terms of functionality, but also in terms of its limits and appearance. We remove the main protective wall and replace it with a railing made of glass and wrought iron, which protects but does not prevent the views from a lower point, where you are relaxing on the outside sofa set.

The outdoor terrace floors are another key point to improve, not only for a matter of level and aesthetics, but also for how the light affects and the final appearance it provides. For all these improvements we choose to place timbertech, an elegant material that protects from moisture and is extremely durable, so it is one of the best options for paving exteriors.

We also highlight the new pergola, which has an extension to deploy a canopy if needed. This new installation replaces the previous one of work seen and also favors the entry of light in its lower floors.

Terrace decoration tips

The decoration and terrace furniture are the elements that will give us the final look of a chill out terrace. Despite all the previous and internal work at the structural level, these are the most visible elements when the project has been completed.

In this case, we choose an orange tone that mix elegantly with dark tones. The presence of wrought iron provides robustness to the structures and durability, since with a treatment we manage to maintain its original state for a long time.

The outdoor sofa set is based on combinations and games of sizes, accompanied by low-rise furniture, which makes the moments in this space always at the floor level, reinforcing the idea of relaxing and enjoying. The reform of the chill out terrace focused largely on this concept.

In general, thanks to this integral reform, we create a new habitable space in this house, especially pleasant in the summer, although its enjoyment is guaranteed throughout the year thanks to the elements of protection and the external structure. We have always loved to versatilize the spaces in our interior design projects and make the most of them.
