Before and after: Inprocess office refurbishment

Office design can be a real challenge. An example of this can be seen in the before and after Inprocess offices renovations in Barcelona. This proposal came to our architecture and design studio in the midst of a pandemic. The owners of this work area asked us for a comprehensive intervention of the space; a reform in which they asked us to create an open, comfortable and functional space for about 50 workers.
The objective defined in the initial brief was to design modern and pleasant offices, without neglecting the functionality, efficiency and design of the space. For this reason, in the intervention that we have in hand, we gave the importance it deserves to each office and meeting room, seeking at the same time the best decoration for modern and creative offices.
Keys to reform
If we look back, we will see that the design of today’s offices has nothing to do with that of other times. The current concept in the interior design of offices is to create spaces where people work and live together, beyond being mere places where a trade is developed.
In the before and after reform for Inprocess offices we can divide the space with custom partitions. The organization in different rooms and offices totally private and acoustically soundproofed was a success. In fact, our proposal for Inprocess had in mind the creation of different pleasant rooms for workers and for possible visitors that may be in the company. In addition to the work areas, we designed a large dining room; a space separated from the rest and with good ventilation, so that neither odors nor noise would interfere in the development of daily work.
We also thought about the reform of the entrance hall to the offices, where we created a very welcoming space. In fact, the counter presents the values and identity of the company as soon as you enter, making a good impression on everyone who sees it for the first time.
Inprocess is a Barcelona-based company that offers engineering services for the petrochemical industry. For this reason, we also sought to generate an office design proposal that would revolve around the company’s corporate style.
Being a company focused on the energy sector, the inspiration when choosing materials and colors was simple. We opted for black and gray tones, reminiscent of coal, the quintessential source of energy throughout history.
All this was combined with furniture and decorative elements in orange tones, the corporate color of the organization. Thus, the color palette chosen combines perfectly with the type of company and generates a work environment full of vitality. A safe bet in the reform for Inprocess offices was the placement of bench tables. This office furniture facilitates the rotation of workers and helps maintain a safe distance between employees. In addition, they promote new work dynamics that are very favorable for the work environment and the safe distribution of workers.
Something that was essential to achieve in the post-pandemic stage we are living in recent times. Among the construction materials, the use of pine wood, methacrylate for the office partitions and decorative carpeting to protect the floor from the frequent transit of workers stand out.
