Performing this activity of order and cleaning at home is not a trivial task, since by doing it we adapt our wardrobe to the change of temperatures. Ideas for arranging a wardrobe and storing your clothes correctly
If you are passionate about changing your closet, this task should not take you more than a couple of hours. Although, the truth is that the time factor can vary greatly depending on the amount of clothes you keep and the size of your closet or dressing room.
Therefore, from Molins Design we have prepared this guide of practical tips to make the closet change. Several tricks and ideas with which you can gain space, order and cleanliness in your dressing room. Take note!
1.- Take your time and prepare the cleaning products.
Before you start taking the clothes out of your closet, take some time to get organized. It is very important to reserve at least one morning for this task. Also, the day before, think about preparing the accessories and cleaning products you need: a basin with soap and water, several microfiber cloths, a good dust cleaner, a vacuum cleaner, etc.
Remember that if you are going to wash last season’s clothes to store them in boxes or vacuum storage bags, you will also need to have these materials ready. So… Don’t forget to buy these products a few days before getting down to work!

2.- Take out of the closet and check all the clothes you own
The first thing you should do is to take all the clothes out of the closet, to know what you keep and what you discard. The truth is that we tend to keep a thousand clothes that we no longer use, either because they do not suit us or because we no longer like them.
We give you a very practical advice to perform this task correctly. Divide your clothes in three different parts: on the one hand, pile in a pile the clothes that you keep, in another pile leave the clothes that you are sure to discard and in a third pile leave the clothes that you have in doubt.

3. Discard or give away the clothes that no longer fit you
You can donate or give away the clothes you have discarded and, with the clothes you left in the doubtful pile, you should think about when was the last time you wore them. If you haven’t worn them in the last 30 days, you no longer need them in your closet!

4.- Wash and keep last season’s clothes.
The clothes you have decided to keep, wash them and let them dry. Then, iron what is necessary, such as shirts or dresses, and buy boxes to store those clothes inside the closet. You can also choose some vacuum storage bags, which will help you optimize the space in your closet, and even buy baskets to sort and store clothes from another season.

5.- Do a deep cleaning of the closet
Next, it is important that you dedicate some time to deep clean the closet. Even if your dressing room has closets with doors, remember that dust also accumulates in these home furnishings. So, after emptying it, vacuum and wipe all surfaces with a damp cloth and a little neutral soap. To finish, you can place an aromatic sachet in each drawer or shelf to maintain a fresh scent.

6.- Logically place the new season’s clothes
Now comes the most important task, to distribute the closet with the new season’s clothes, ordering and organizing by type of garment, styles, sizes, colors, etc.. Choose a distribution that is comfortable for you and try to keep it throughout the season, so that the order does not escape from your closet.

7.- Fold clothes vertically
We recommend that you use Marie Kondo’s technique for folding clothes, as it makes better use of the space in the drawers. Storing clothes vertically is perfect for T-shirts, underwear, pants … With this, you will get your clothes do not wrinkle and optimize the space in your closet.
When you hang your clothes on the bar, try not to hang them too tightly. Also, use only one hanger per garment, even if you don’t have much space. The truth is that, organizing your clothes in this way will be ideal to see at a glance the clothes you have hanging in the closet.

8.- What to do with coats and party dresses?
To store this type of clothes, you must first wash them well. We recommend that you take your coats and party dresses to a dry cleaner. Also, we advise you to store them in the attic of the closet, since they are garments for occasional use.

9.- Logically place accessories and other accessories
Use the lower part of your closet to place baskets or boxes that allow you to store sneakers, bags and other accessories that do not wrinkle. In any case, only leave in the closet the seasonal clothes and accessories that you wear every day. Store the rest in boxes or another closet.
You can also create a handbag closet, if you have a lot of bags and don’t know where to put them. This way, you will have them all in sight and not forgotten inside a box. The same goes for organizing cosmetic accessories, since having a small closet or space where you can organize them will allow you to have everything at hand.

10.- Think about aesthetics
When you change your closet, do not keep things in different covers and boxes. Choose identical ones for the clothes that are most similar and select boxes in the same tones. In addition to being in order, the inside of your closet should match the aesthetics and style of your home.
