1.- The ebenist-marmolist binomi
Before placing or changing the kitchen countertop, it is very important to have the help of a cabinetmaker and a marble worker. These two figures will be vital to accurately measure the thickness and height of each element of the kitchen. To coordinate with them the design, the correct measurement and the subsequent placement of the countertop will help us to avoid the slightest error.
In fact, it should be taken into account that both professionals work together so that this piece of design fits the space and performs the functions for which it has been created.
Having them will be essential for the final design of our countertop to be a success.
In an initial phase of the intervention, from Molins Design we work closely with these two professionals. It is then when cabinetmakers and marble workers become our best advisors to obtain a spectacular result.
2.- Plans and other required documentation
The plans, both floor plans and elevations, serve us in a second phase to take references of the kitchen design that we approach. Thanks to these documents we are able to reference the cuts of each piece, the interior mechanisms that can be obtained and even where the baseboards should be located.
These initial plans or sketches serve us as a script and become the indispensable documentation to which we must resort before starting any intervention.
3.- Choice of porcelain materials
For the design and installation of countertops, porcelain materials are usually the most chosen. The truth is that the market has specialized in the development of high quality countertops, which meet the most demanding expectations of customers.
Thus, we find different porcelain materials, being the most interesting brands of countertops the Silestone, famous for its wide resistance, variety of colors and textures. Although, we also find Dekton compact kitchen countertops, very versatile and can be combined with other materials such as quartz or glass.
The choice of one material or another will depend on the customer’s needs, tastes and also the style you want to achieve in this special corner of the home.
Remember! The important thing about any kitchen countertop is that it is easy to maintain, easy to clean and especially resistant to shocks.
4.- Necessary measuring tools
There are several tools that we will need to measure and place a countertop correctly in the kitchen. The most basic ones are the plans, some meters and pens to mark references. However, it is also very important to have an angle measurer.
With this accessory we will be able to verify that the walls adjacent to the countertop form, at all times, an angle of 90º. In fact, without this opening angle, it will be difficult to fit the worktop.
5.- Placement of hotplates according to their distribution
Once the space has been measured and the construction materials have been chosen, it is time to place the countertop in the chosen corner. To do this, we recommend that before you do a work of reflection and think about where it will be best to place the countertop, so that it is completely practical and functional.
For example, in a kitchen with an island, the ideal is to place the countertop taking into account the concept of the work triangle. This term consists of arranging each and every one of the elements of the kitchen in a way that facilitates our daily tasks.
Thus, we could triangulate the direct cooking area with the sink and dishwasher located on the island, so that when it comes to cleaning, everything is easier and faster to perform. We could also triangulate the microwave and oven area with the worktop or island and the freezer. It all depends on the distribution and design of the kitchen we have.
