Energy efficiency starts at the architecture studio
One of the common and recurrent topics in our architecture study, and with which we have to deal with often, it’s energy efficiency. The key to a correct and optimal intervention must not only be assessed aesthetically, there are very important internal aspects that we must think about it and that in the long term determine if the house is optimized and if it needs a great effort to maintain its services and facilities.
The energy efficiency certificate is a document issued by technicians in which objective data on the characteristics of a property are included. It includes data on water, heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, and more…
After the analysis and study of the technicians about the consumption and conditions of the home, the certificate is issued, where the level of efficiency is determined in a scale of seven letters (A-G).
This certificate is mandatory, except in some cases, and must include data such as; identification of the procedure, energy characteristics of the building, regulations, verifications done..
Obtaining a good grade can mean savings in consumption of 20-30% per year compared to obtaining a bad rating.
IN THE ARCHITECTURE STUDY, SAVINGS START
If we have the opportunity to think first certain aspects from the beginning of a project, we will be doing things right. Whether if its a new construction or an architectural intervention, the briefing must be approved adding these concepts and how they are distributed.
So, it’s a basic step to think in three basic aspects, they’re not the only, but a good initial point.
1. Correct thermal insulation:Ensure the sealing of windows, doors, frames and all those elements that are in contact or connection with the outside. Of course, double-glazed windows with a camera are elemental.
2. Lighting:Choose a LED lighting design. We should leave behind the tungsten light bulbs and supply them for energy saving light bulbs.
3. Appliances:The choice of the appliances is a key pint to achieve this efficiency with the daily use of them. One of the drawbacks is that the qualifications of these are governed by the manufacturers themselves, so doing a minimal previous investigation will help us to know which really meet our expectations.
