New decoration of an apartment in the Eixample district of Barcelona
Tonet Apartment has 262 square meters and has 5 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. In this intervention we were commissioned to create a modern and functional decoration for the entrance, as well as to redecorate a large living-dining room, a study room, three bedrooms with bathrooms, a guest bathroom and a gallery with bathroom.
Un apartamento de lujo en pleno centro de Barcelona
The Tonet Apartment is located in Ronda Sant Pere, on the border between the Eixample and the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. It is a master of an old building built in the early twentieth century, at the height of Modernism in Catalonia.
This new decorative proposal of Molins Design is summarized in the generosity of spaces, both in plan and in elevation. In fact, in this apartment there is a lot of air volume, which causes the spaces to breathe generosity and spaciousness. The contrast of the neutrality of the container with the decorative and everyday elements gives the apartment a very marked personality. Hence, all the elements deposited in the intervention have their protagonism within the space.
Decoración elegante y cercana a un apartamento vacacional
At the time when the Molins team received the commission for this apartment in the Eixample, a pseudo-reform had been carried out in which they had opted for the homogenization of finishes and chromaticism, dispensing with the glossary of geometries and chromaticisms generated by the hydraulic flooring, a hallmark of the time. It was surprising that the entire floor was covered with microcement in a very light tone. A color that reminded us of the holiday apartments typical of the Balearic Islands. The homogenization of the walls and the plaster moldings of the ceilings formed a neutral container.
In this context, the carpentries stand out, which are found in all the perimeter enclosures: the door frames, the wall passages, etc. We also opted for the original carpentry, freeing them from their multiple layers of paint to leave them in their original wood.
This apartment in the Eixample of Barcelona includes an adaptation at the level of facilities. A ducted air conditioning system was installed, which generated volumes in plasterboard, forcing the implementation of a new volumetry. Through the use of false ceilings with particular gestures, such as semicircular arches, it was used to give a geometric touch that evokes the design of the late 70s.
Different styles in the same living space
The client owner of the Tonet Apartment is a foreign couple with a daughter temporarily residing in Barcelona for her academic training. They chose this location for its cultural ties with the city and opted for the romanticism of a historical element, prioritizing it over functionality.
The couple commissioned the Molins Design team to decorate the different spaces, with the choice of lighting elements, furniture pieces, carpets and upholstery. In addition to the bed headboards, benches, mirrors and other objects (both for everyday and decorative use).
The clients requested a firm commitment to artistic pieces, with the aim of recovering the personality of an apartment that breathed a certain neutrality. In this project, the link between the art pieces and the decorative elements stands out. All this, to enhance the uniqueness of each of the spaces of the house. We take advantage of the possibility that gives us an old site to provoke the contrast through the selection of very modern artistic pieces, always respecting the environment.
Combination of public and private spaces
Originally, in this type of apartments, the public and private parts were very different. The former was exposed to the main facade, while the latter faced the interior courtyards. However, in this project this separation has been somewhat diluted. In fact, the main suite of Tonet Apartment connects directly with the facade of Ronda Sant Pere.
In the public part of the apartment, in addition to the master suite, the living and dining rooms are located. In an intermediate area, taking advantage of the ventilation of the inner courtyard, is the hall and the kitchen, very open, and with an extroverted character. Finally, in the back and more private, there is a large distributor area in which we have placed a sofa and a space enabled for teleworking and study. In the private part there are also two rooms that connect with the interior gallery. One of them has an adjoining bathroom with a bathtub of great sculptural value. The gallery allows the entry of light and cross ventilation by opening the two facades.
An exclusive apartment in the heart of Barcelona's Eixample
A small jewel in the center of the city, which breathes the typical modernist air of Barcelona's Eixample together with the cosmopolitan point that gives off its modern decoration. We can not forget the contemporary works of art that dress it, turning this apartment in the Eixample into a space with its own personality. An apartment designed to be shared and enjoyed.
An apartment with a lot of personality
A centrally located, practical and functional apartment with an almost sculptural aesthetic. The Tonet Apartment is generously sized and has 5 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms.

An area for working and studying
Tonet Apartment has a small study area located in the middle area of the apartment. A simple and functional space to feel at ease during working hours.
