Molins Design interior design projects: Phases and duration

Interior design project phases
In a previous article we already told you about the phases that make up the Molins Design decoration projects. Therefore, in today’s article we will focus on the stage prior to decoration: The interior design.
As you may well know, interior design for bars and restaurants is totally different from interior design for offices or interior design for houses.
Each proposal to be carried out acquires its own characteristics, working materials and different ways of working. However, all the interior design projects that we deal with in Molins Design studio consist of 6 key phases for its optimal development. Let’s see what they are:
1. Contact
Certainly, this is one of the most important phases of interior design projects. Before starting any interior design it is necessary to know closely your needs and concerns. It is essential to know what you like, what you want to include in your home and what is going to be the approximate budget you want to spend. If you have it, it will also be necessary to have at hand a first sketch or the plans of the current state of the space or of the areas to intervene.
In this first contact we will go to know the space to take pictures and write down the measurements of each room to work on. In this way, we will be able to see and think about each and every one of the possibilities that the space can offer. At this point we must think that it will not be the same to work a project in a city environment or urban context, than a second home.

2. Economic estimation
In a second phase, the economic valuation of the interior design project is addressed, which we do based on two documents. The first one, known as fee proposal, where the dedication of our team for the realization of the project is valued. And a second document, which would be a preliminary offer or initial briefing, in which a detailed summary is made of the items that will be needed, in addition to the industrialists who will be involved in the implementation of the project. It is a document that is also very useful for us to evaluate and estimate a final budget.

3. Project start-up
Once the client has validated the project fees, the third phase comes into play. This refers to the start of the interior design project as such. In this regard, what are we going to need?
On the one hand, we will take the measurements of the space to know closely its dimensions, the available facilities, etc. That is to say, we will know the space first hand and we will take the necessary measurements together with the Project manager, who will be in charge of any detail of the project during the whole process.
Once we have the measurements, the next step is to draw up plans of the current state of the space. At this point, we will also need to get to know you better, in much more detail, and ask you what are your hopes, your needs and what do you want us to take into account. This is also the time to tell us if you have any preference for brands or materials, in order to create the ideal inventory with all those elements that you want to project and integrate into the interior design proposal that we will make to measure.
In addition to the functional needs, we will also take into account your aesthetic preferences. In this sense, it will be very useful for us if you make a pre-selection of images, either from our projects, from Pinterest or from other studios. In short, images that you like so that we can understand your visual and aesthetic imaginary.

4. Project development
We start with phase four and here we put the whole Molins team into action. Let’s remember that, at this point, we already have the plans of the current state of the space and also the measurements. From here, we start working with the floor plan distribution.
Here the changes and modifications in partition walls will be shown, we will already have the new distribution and, from there, the new project will be generated in its primary state. Once this new floor plan distribution has been agreed upon, in a meeting with the clients in our studio, we move on to the second part, which is the development of the sections and elevations of the spaces to be intervened. That is to say, those areas that we consider necessary for the good development of the project. Once we have made plans and elevations, we begin to work in parallel with the electrical installations, water, etc.. All this, without leaving aside the choice of materials, that is to say, faucets, sanitary, porcelain, pavements, etc. So installations and materials are worked at the same time, together, to move forward with the entire interior design project.
It is important to say that the materials are selected with your help in the studio, in a very functional and didactic way. We will not go from one showroom to another, but the Molins Design team makes this pre-selection in a personalized way, having compiled all the previous information that you provide us.

5. Space rendering
In this phase we use the render, a design and decoration program, in which a compilation of all the materials of the space, the plants and the elevations is made. All this, to make a 3D plan of the interior design. That is, we create our roadmap on a large scale, to visualize almost 95% of how the reform will be.

6. Economic valuation
Finally, we would finish the interior design project with phase 6, which is the phase in which we will make the economic valuation of the projected execution. Here we make a descriptive report of the interior design project, in which we write down everything about how much it is going to cost us, which are going to be the different brands, models, references and measurements of each item. We summarize and value everything in a single document, which will serve as a script for the subsequent execution of the intervention.
