Molins Design participates in ArchiChef Night Barcelona
Last Wednesday, May 6th, Barcelona hosted a new edition of ArchiChef Night Barcelona, an event that brings together architecture, interior design, design and gastronomy in a unique experience. The evening took place at Restaurante Público – Cuina de Mercat, located at Calle Enrique Granados, 30, Barcelona, and brought together five outstanding studios from the city.
On this occasion, Molins Design was represented by Carla and Bernat Marcillas, who took part in a creative, informal and very special evening on behalf of the studio. In addition, the night ended with wonderful news: Molins Design received two awards, “Best Taste of the Night” and “Best Dish of the Night”, the latter awarded by the press.
What is ArchiChef Night?
ArchiChef Night is an event organized by the Italian communication agency Towant, which specializes in creating informal and unconventional initiatives for design companies and architecture studios.
The concept is as original as it is inspiring. In each European city where the event takes place, five architecture and interior design studios present their work through a dish. Therefore, for one night, architects and interior designers leave behind plans, materials and moodboards to become chefs.
As a result, each studio prepares one of the dishes that forms part of the evening’s menu. Finally, all attendees vote for the best proposals in different categories.
An evening where design can be tasted
The ArchiChef Night Barcelona edition brought together the participating studios, other local studios, specialised press and commercial representatives from the sponsoring brands. Therefore, the event became much more than a dinner: it was a meeting point for professionals from the design, architecture and interior design sectors.
Moreover, this experience made it possible to explore creativity from a different perspective. Just as in an interior design project, a dish also requires balance, composition, sensitivity, technique and a story to tell.
Consequently, ArchiChef Night proposes a different way of presenting each studio’s work. Instead of doing so through images, renders or completed projects, each team translates its creative universe into the language of gastronomy.
The five participating studios in Barcelona
The Barcelona edition featured five architecture and interior design studios from the city:
· Molins Design
· b720 Arquitectos
· Lázaro Rosa Violán Studio
· Miralles Tagliabue – EMBT Architects
· Borgos Pieper
Each studio presented its culinary proposal during the evening. In this way, attendees were able to discover different ways of understanding creativity, design and brand identity through gastronomy.
Molins Design’s proposal
Representing Molins Design, Carla and Bernat Marcillas participated with a proposal called “La llum”. The dish consisted of three scallops on a cream of Maresme peas, with olive emulsion and truffle air.
The scallop was the centre of the proposal: a noble, clean Atlantic product that entered into dialogue with the Mediterranean through the rest of the ingredients. Precisely, this tension between sea and land was what brought the dish to life.
On the one hand, the Maresme pea represented our territory and our Catalan roots. On the other hand, the olive emulsion brought technique to a humble product. Finally, the truffle air introduced contained luxury: present, yet never imposing.
As in good interior design, nothing was superfluous and everything had meaning.
Molins Design wins two awards at ArchiChef Night Barcelona
At the end of the dinner, attendees voted for the best dishes in different categories. Finally, Molins Design was recognised with two awards:
Best Taste of the Night
Best Dish of the Night, awarded by the press
These awards recognized both the flavour of the proposal and its concept, presentation and ability to surprise. In addition, they reinforced the connection between creativity, aesthetic sensitivity and experience, values that are very present in Molins Design’s daily work.
Without a doubt, receiving these two awards at ArchiChef Night Barcelona was a source of pride for the studio. Likewise, it represented a different way of sharing our approach to design with other professionals in the sector.
An event supported by leading design brands
The Barcelona edition was sponsored by international brands linked to design, architecture and interior design. Among them were:
· Boffi|DePadova
· Ceramica Sant’Agostino
· Dornbracht
· Magis
· Nesite
· Occhio
Thanks to their support, ArchiChef Night has consolidated itself as an initiative capable of bringing together studios, brands and specialised media in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Furthermore, Towant regularly collaborates with some of the most important Italian and international design brands, as well as with recognised online and offline publications within the sector.
Architecture, interior design and gastronomy: a natural connection
Although architecture, interior design and gastronomy may seem like different disciplines, they all share the same foundation: the creation of experiences.
In an interior design project, every decision matters. The layout, light, materials, finishes and furniture influence the way we experience a space. In the same way, in a dish, each ingredient, texture and presentation builds a sensory experience.
For this reason, events such as ArchiChef Night show that design is not only something to be seen. It can also be lived, shared and even tasted.
A night to celebrate creativity
Molins Design’s participation in ArchiChef Night Barcelona was an opportunity to enjoy a different kind of evening alongside other leading studios from the city. In addition, it allowed us to share ideas, create connections and celebrate design from a more informal and surprising point of view.
Ultimately, ArchiChef Night proves that creativity has no limits. It can be expressed in a home, in a commercial space, in a piece of furniture or, as in this case, in a dish.
For Molins Design, having been part of this edition and having received the awards “Best Taste of the Night” and “Best Dish of the Night” was a very special recognition. Above all, because it reflected the studio’s ability to translate its creative sensitivity into any format.
Molins Design at ArchiChef Night Barcelona
At Molins Design, we are delighted to celebrate these two recognitions obtained at ArchiChef Night Barcelona. Being part of this edition allowed us to share our way of understanding design through a different, more sensory and closer format.
Likewise, we would like to thank Towant for organising an initiative that connects architecture, interior design, gastronomy and creativity in an original and memorable way.
Once again, Barcelona became a stage for talent, design and collaboration. And, on this occasion, Molins Design had the privilege of being part of a night where design was also served at the table.
