Amelia Apartment
Amelia Apartment is a truly special project—an interior design and full renovation of an apartment in Barcelona’s Tres Torres neighborhood, shaped by continuity.
In fact, it was commissioned by loyal clients who had already trusted Molins Design years ago for their previous home. Now, in this new chapter, they chose us again to adapt their new residence to their current needs.
Modern, timeless interior design and full renovation in Sarrià, Barcelona
In Amelia Apartment, we transformed a large yet outdated apartment into a contemporary, practical and highly functional home, designed to match the real pace of everyday life.
Beyond updating the look, the renovation also redefined how the home is lived: a more logical layout, fluid spaces and a serene atmosphere tailored to a family with three teenage children.
Continuity with a story
What makes this project especially meaningful is the renewed trust of clients who had already worked with our studio.
Moreover, we incorporated furniture pieces from their former home and repositioned them within a more contemporary language—proving that good design is not discarded; instead, it is reinterpreted and evolves.
One of the added challenges of this full renovation and modern, timeless interior design in Sarrià was precisely to reuse certain pieces from the previous home—more classic in style—and make them fit naturally and coherently within this new setting.
Most of these elements are concentrated in the living–dining area, although they also appear in the entryway.
For instance, the entry art composition was updated with new frames, while the bench was refreshed by lacquering its legs in gold and reupholstering the seat in a soft ribbed cotton velvet.

A serene, timeless living room
The living room was designed as a spacious, calm and luminous environment, where warmth is achieved through a neutral palette, the presence of wood and a carefully layered use of textures.
In addition, the layout allows the space to “breathe”, with comfortable circulation and a balanced composition between larger pieces and lighter elements—creating an atmosphere that feels both contemporary and timeless.
Finally, lighting combines recessed spots with indirect illumination to add depth and build different scenes throughout the day, enhancing the quiet comfort that defines the space.
A transition that hides a signature feature
Connected to the oak paneling in the entryway and shaping the transition into the day area, one of the project’s hidden “jewels” is revealed.
Seeking a subtle “wow” effect while staying fully functional, we integrated a bespoke concealed bar cabinet behind the panel—backlit and equipped with a pull-out surface for drink preparation.
The standout detail is its folding opening system, which allows the door to be hidden on the side, reducing visual noise and saving space.
Shifting the kitchen to enlarge the living area: the key to optimizing space
Another key move was the kitchen’s expansion and slight relocation—an intervention that increased usable surface both in the kitchen itself and in the living room.
As a result, circulation improved, natural light was enhanced, and the day area became larger, more open and more connected—perfectly aligned with family life.
Additionally, we integrated a ceiling-mounted projector, concealed within the architecture, allowing for an audiovisual experience without compromising the calm and open feel of the space—no TV in sight and minimal visual disruption.
Design details that add value
The dining area keeps a special connection to the home’s story: we reused the table and chairs from the previous residence and integrated them into a renewed, modern and serene context.
Around these pieces, the cove ceiling becomes a key element—framing the dining zone and creating soft, indirect lighting that brings depth and warmth without glare. The result is a balanced, timeless space where what already worked shines again—this time, with a fresh perspective.
Sketch of the dining room furniture
From structural constraint to a focal point
This signature piece does more than serve the dining room—it also guides the flow naturally toward the living area with a home office, the final corner of this generous day zone.
Here, the design discreetly integrates a large-format TV, remaining consistent with the overall aesthetic and preserving visual calm.
Ultimately, these are the challenges we love: refining the design until a limitation becomes a solution that also enhances beauty, character and spatial balance.
A larger kitchen designed to be lived in
In Amelia Apartment, and considering the generous scale of the home, the kitchen was expanded and slightly moved from its original position to gain usable surface and strengthen its connection to the day area.
Likewise, to reinforce this link, we installed a pivoting tempered-glass door—an elegant glass enclosure solution that increases light and enhances the sense of spaciousness.
As a result, the kitchen becomes a more fluid, comfortable and functional space, with clear circulation, generous work areas and a layout that invites cooking, sharing and being together—without interruptions.
Kitchen: space, light and bespoke functionality
The kitchen’s aesthetic remains contemporary and timeless thanks to the combination of oak wood with sand-toned melamine, along with Abkstone marble-veined fronts and countertops that add character without feeling heavy.
The central island becomes the practical heart of the space—with integrated power outlets and an extra work surface—while the sculptural ARC pendant by Aromas and recessed spotlights reinforce the sense of order, spaciousness and enveloping light.
A guest bathroom with personality
The guest bathroom is a small jewel where we allowed ourselves to be bolder and play with materiality and atmosphere.
The focal point is a unique, almost sculptural countertop basin that contrasts with the warm countertop and adds a contemporary, sophisticated touch. It is complemented by the Delie L wall light by Aromas, which frames the vanity with elegant, precise lighting, while the geometric Romo wallpaper brings texture and depth to the walls, elevating the overall feeling.
Because guest bathrooms are the perfect place to give creativity free rein: a small space, yet one with huge potential to surprise.
A simple, functional terrace
Although compact, this terrace was designed as a true outdoor refuge—adding an extra space to unwind and enjoy the open air.
We embraced its orientation and the views toward the large park opposite, creating a corner made for pausing, reading or simply breathing.
A palette of greys, whites and blacks brings a serene, contemporary look: a sofa and armchair with grey woven detailing add texture and visual lightness, while a black-and-white geometric rug structures the area and adds character without overwhelming it.
A small space, yes—but with everything needed to become the best plan of the day, and a great example of how to make the most of a small terrace.

A project born from continuity—driven by loyal clients who had trusted Molins Design years ago and chose us again to adapt their new home to their current needs.
Adding rhythm and functionality to a corridor
In the corridor connecting the day area and the bedrooms, we wanted to turn a transitional space into an experience. Therefore, to break monotony and create rhythm, we designed oak wall paneling where the overlap of planes adds depth and movement.
Between the joints, a delicate vertical LED line introduces warmth and a subtle sense of theatricality—without taking over.
Moreover, the lighting is activated by a motion sensor, accompanying the walk through the hallway and creating a soft, practical and immersive sequence of light.

Mirrors that elevate the walk-in wardrobe
The primary suite stands out for its generous dimensions and for bringing multiple functions into one space: a neutral-toned sleeping area, a large walk-in wardrobe with extensive storage, a compact home gym area and the bathroom.
Here, mirrors were essential to enhance spaciousness and light. Integrated into fronts and vertical planes, they multiply natural light, extend the lines of the cabinetry and double the perceived depth—making the room feel more open and enveloping.
In addition, their strategic placement connects the wardrobe and the sleeping area, reinforcing a continuous spatial reading and adding the refined calm we sought.
A serene refuge: the suite as an oasis
The sleeping area of the suite was conceived as a true haven of peace. That is why we chose layered, segmented and dimmable lighting—able to support different moments throughout the day and create distinct scenes when needed.
Moreover, dark-toned oak clads the headboard wall and extends into two floating bedside tables, adding warmth and visual continuity.
Next, the composition is completed with a bespoke upholstered headboard in a speckled chenille fabric and carefully selected lighting that adds sophistication without losing serenity: integrated gold wall sconces and mirrored-finish pendants by Formagenda.
Finally, custom wave curtains in a Yutes fabric soften natural light, while the beige bedspread, cushions and bench—upholstered in a warm geometric Dedar textile—dress the room with texture and balance.
As a finishing touch, a large beige rug with an enveloping feel frames the entire set and reinforces comfort.
A suite designed to be lived it: bathroom, wardrobe and gym
The suite bathroom follows a “cabin” layout—one of our favourite solutions—because it compartmentalizes the space, increases privacy and adds a strong sense of order and style.
For this, opaque tempered-glass swing doors with gold handles separate the WC and shower, while the vanity remains centred and visible, acting as the axis and enhancing balance and openness.
Furthermore, in line with the suite’s sophisticated aesthetic, we kept the oak cabinetry and paired it with gold details in handles and taps. As a distinctive feature, the DCW Éditions wall lights add character and beautifully controlled illumination.
Lastly, making use of the bedroom’s generous scale—and at the clients’ request—we integrated a compact gym area within the suite, reinforcing its practical, everyday focus.
Depth and texture in blue
Two of the children share a bathroom with a strong visual presence—functional, yet full of personality.
We started with a neutral base in the flooring and vanity and elevated it through contrasting finishes: a dark Silestone countertop, a black countertop basin and taps, and matching details such as the towel rail and a wall light that combines black with subtle gold accents.
Moreover, as we often like to do in bathrooms, we allowed for a bolder gesture. Therefore, we introduced a powerful deep blue on the main wall, executed in two layers: paint and a textured ceramic tile in the same tone. As a result, the space gains depth, freshness and tactile richness—creating a vibrant, contemporary bathroom with a clear identity.

A new suite bedroom: light, calm and coherence
The fourth bedroom, achieved through the new layout, was designed as a suite with its own bathroom. This way, we not only gained an extra room, but also an independent, comfortable space for everyday living.
In addition, this final bedroom was assigned to the daughter. To give it identity without heaviness, we chose a delicate sky-blue tone that wraps the room in freshness, framed by subtle gold pendant lights that add a refined touch.
Lastly, the bathroom combines a neutral palette of white and beige to keep it bright and timeless, while the bedroom’s blue reappears in the vanity-front border detail, creating visual continuity and a balanced finish.
A home that evolves with the people who live in it
Ultimately, the result is a home that balances functionality, calm and character—where every decision, from the layout to the details, responds to a real way of living.
Therefore, Amelia Apartment is not a starting point, but a continuation: a project that grows, adapts and evolves alongside the family.
