Tonet Apartment
In this interior design project, the carpentry stands out, which can be found in all the perimeter enclosures, door frames, wall openings, etc. We opted for the original woodwork, freeing it from its multiple layers of paint to leave it in its original wood appearance.
The living room and dining room share the same space, beautifully illuminated by the sunlight that filters through the balconies overlooking the main street.
Interior design of a modernist flat in Barcelona’s “Eixample”
Tonet Apartment is located in Ronda Sant Pere, on the border between l’Eixample and the Gothic Quarter. It is the main floor of an old building constructed at the beginning of the 20th century, during the apogee of Modernism in Catalonia.
This project can be summed up in the generosity of the spaces, both in plan and in elevation, as there is a great volume of air, which means that the spaces breathe amplitude and spaciousness.
The contrast between the neutrality of the container and the decorative and everyday elements gives the flat a very marked personality to this proposal by Molins Design, in which all the elements play their particular role.
When the Molins Design team received the commission for this apartment, a partial renovation had been previosuly carried out in which homogene finishes and chromatics invaded the flat, dispensing with the glossary of geometries and chromatics generated by the hydraulic floor, the hallmark of the period.
Surprising was the fact that the entire floor had been covered with microcement in a very light shade, typical of a holiday flat in the Balearic Islands. The homogenisation of the walls and the plaster mouldings on the ceilings formed a neutral container.
The dining table, custom-made by our team with a Calacatta Statuario marble top and an oval-shaped structure in mate black lacquered iron sheet, becomes one of the star pieces in the dining room, together with hanging artwork on the walls, on loan from the Alzueta Gallery, one of the most important art galleries in Barcelona.
Around the table we placed a set of Carola dining chairs by Andreu World.
In one of the corners of this space we placed a wooden pedestal on which the sculpture by Jordi Alcaraz, also on loan from Alzueta Gallery, is displayed.
In front of the living area is the guest bedroom, a serene and cozy space, which also houses the dressing room and the en-suite bathroom. To design this space we chose a neutral chromatic range, in which white, beige and ecru tones are the main protagonists.
The bed, upholstered with Chivasso fabric, and the Defense bedside tables are exclusive designs by Molins Design. A large-format painting by Santeri Lehto on loan from Alzueta Gallery presides over the space with subtlety and undeniable elegance.
"Our clients, of foreign origin, chose this location because of its cultural links with the city".
The Tonet Apartment owners are a foreign couple with a daughter who are temporarily living in Barcelona for her academic training. They chose this location because of its cultural ties with the city and opted for the romanticism of a historical element, prioritizing this aspect over functionality.
We completed the decoration of the guest bedroom with table lamps in taupe ceramic and chrome metal by Aromas and dressed the bed with a duvet cover and pillowcases by Zara Home, to which we added a blanket made by Molins Design with fabric by Decortex and decorative cushions designed with fabric by Pierre Frey.
Elegance and harmony in the guest bedroom

In the night area, located in the side facing the courtyard, we find a space that is used as a distribution room for two of the bedrooms, converted into an office and a private and exclusive lounge.
To create a comfortable and cozy space, as well as functional, we designed a study table made to measure in brushed oak veneer, stained and varnished, and two office armchairs from the Nuez collection by Andreu World. Above the study table, we placed two table lamps with a mate black body and a mate gold shade by Aromas.
For the living room, we chose a sofa model Björn L by Eichholtz, upholstered by Molins Design in fabric by Güell Lamadrid, an armchair and a coffee table also by Eichholtz. The decorative cushions that dress the sofa were made by our team with fabric by Pierre Frey. The artwork decorating the walls is loaned by the prestigious Alzueta Gallery.
In this private part there are also two rooms that connect with the interior gallery, a piece which allows the entry of light and cross ventilation by opening both opposite facades.
For the master bedroom, in which blue is the main colour in combination with red, we designed a bespoke bed headboard upholstered with Gastón & Daniela fabric, and two bedside tables suspended and hung on the headboard with a matt black lacquered exterior custom-made by our team, on which we placed two Aloa Gold table lamps by Aromas.
The paintings hanging above the headboard are a set of three Untitled works by Sabine Finkenauer on loan from Alzueta Gallery.

A stylish bathroom
At one end of the fabulous gallery there is an adjoining bathroom with a bathtub of great sculptural value, a unique space in which we have added an aged natural elm wood wardrobe by VicalHome.
