Baguer House
The intervention of this dwelling situated in Diagonal Mar, with privileged views of the city, the Mediterranean Sea and plenty of natural light, is based on the need to create quality spaces, where the shared enjoyment of the different areas contextualises the project in its real environment.
How to design a modern flat in the Diagonal Mar area
Space asks for space. This could be the title that defines this intervention carried out in a penthouse located in the Diagonal Mar area of Barcelona.
The Baguer House presented Molins Design with a new challenge: how to design a modern flat in one of the most sophisticated areas of Barcelona.
The script drawn up by the client, together with his desire to enjoy the sea views to the maximum, allowed this intervention to be defined.
Therefore, among the main objectives of this flat to be refurbished was the need to unify the two main spaces of the home: the day and night areas.
Open Space Concept
Transferring the criterion of opening up and compartmentalising spaces to each of the details of the proposal was essential, both in terms of flooring and cladding. Likewise, the choice of furniture was one of the important challenges achieved in this project. For example, for the decoration of open spaces, wood and glass were chosen; two materials that combine perfectly.
The living room, dining room and kitchen share the same perfectly integrated area next to the entrance hall, where the strategic selection of the materials chosen to define the project aims to bring a touch of warmth and comfort to the environment.
How to design a modern flat went through the choice of a type of natural wood furniture and large glass windows, which allow more natural light to enter.

To create a foyer area that subtly conceals the open plan living, dining and kitchen area, we designed a three-sided unit made up of different modules built in oak veneer and custom-made by our team, as a very interesting piece of volume and functionality, with storage capacity.
A bench as a dividing element
The bench that we custom-designed to serve the dining table has a double utility. The backrest serves as a separating element with respect to the kitchen area, thus creating a practical and aesthetic effect in this unique composition.
The suspended lamps that illuminate the top of the dining table are the Rhythm design by Vibia.

For the kitchen’s design, we conceived a small but functional room. Therefore, we created a small kitchen with a bar, which communicates openly with the flat’s dining room.
Likewise, following the general decorative theme, natural wood furniture was combined with other kitchen furniture and accessories in white. For the lighting, the entrance of natural light from the living room was enhanced and some artificial lamps were installed to bring an extra degree of warmth to the room.
The kitchen is an exclusive design by Molins Design to which we added worktops and wall cladding in Silestone Amazon and a Silestone Integrity One sink by Cosentino.
The appliances installed are from Miele, one of the most important high-end firms in this sector.

The master bedroom, located at the opposite end of the living room, has a spectacular bathroom and integrated dressing room.
For the design of the bedroom we custom made a MDF headboard upholstered with Naturtex fabric and two bedside tables with a drawer in melamine and white lacquered exterior, also created by Molins Design.
Above these we installed two suspended lamps by Oluce to create a suggestive ambient light reinforced by the general lighting that we used for the whole house with recessed spotlights by Faro.
Guest bedroom
This 105 m2 penthouse in Diagonal Mar also has a complete guest bedroom, for which we designed a MDF headboard upholstered with Güell Lamadrid fabric and the bedside table with melamine interior and white lacquered exterior.
The cushions and bedspreads that dress the bed have also been designed by our team, with fabrics by Güell Lamadrid and Osborne & Little, respectively.

The courtesy bathroom, which serves both the day area and the guest bedroom, stands out for the type of cladding applied, a model by Marazzi, on which we added a wall-mounted vanity unit with a gloss white lacquered exterior finish and a backlit mirror custom-made by our team of designers.
