Salou House
This interior design and landscaping project for a seaside home in Salou has become one of the most special we have carried out in our studio.
A lovely family of five approached Molins Design to completely renovate their new property, turning it into their main residence.
This Mediterranean-style house in Salou is a stunning 250 m² home set on the seafront, offering incomparable views of the Mediterranean.
The property sits on a plot of over 1,000 m², which includes an annex building, a swimming pool, and a large, landscaped garden.
Coastal home renovation and interior design in Salou
Originally, the main house presented several technical issues and an outdated interior design. But the area in the greatest need of transformation was the entire exterior and the annex building, which had to be converted from an independent apartment into two spacious suites.
What began as a decorative project gradually evolved into a comprehensive renovation of the outdoor spaces and a full makeover of the interiors.
The goal was clear: to create a lively family home, fully open to the sea, where every corner conveys comfort, personality, and harmony.
Thanks to its large floor-to-ceiling windows, every room in this Mediterranean house enjoys privileged sea views and an open, luminous, and serene atmosphere.
Noble, timeless materials such as oak wood and large-format porcelain were chosen to strengthen the visual continuity between indoors and outdoors.
Arrival: an olive tree as a symbol
Before stepping into the main entrance of this coastal home renovation in Salou, visitors are greeted by a truly symbolic element: a majestic century-old olive tree.
Carefully set into a bespoke planter, this feature was a construction challenge for our team and now stands as a timeless emblem of Mediterranean home design.
For the family, the olive tree represents roots, heritage, and continuity—a heartfelt symbol that introduces the essence of the project: a warm, authentic home that celebrates the coastal lifestyle.
The original glass entrance door was replaced with a large oak panel, offering greater privacy and immediately setting the tone for the interior: nobility, intimacy, and a seamless connection with nature.
A Refuge Open to the Mediterranean
The living room of this coastal home renovation in Salou is one of the project’s true protagonists. Spacious, luminous, and with breathtaking sea views, it was designed to become the heart of family life.
A bespoke L-shaped sofa upholstered in white brings freshness and lightness.
In front of it, two navy-blue armchairs and a custom rug in tones of blue, white, and stone echo the marine palette, creating a sophisticated and coherent atmosphere inspired by the Mediterranean.
A Living Room Full of Personality
The large-scale bookcase, inherited from the previous owners, was completely restored and lacquered in vibrant Klein blue. This bold choice adds vibrancy and character, turning it into the focal point of the room.
Auxiliary tables, designed by our own team, combine stainless steel with oak wood—an elegant balance between modernity and natural warmth that enhances this Mediterranean interior design concept.
Functional Layout with Sea Views
Living room opens into the dining area, visually divided by a custom oak panel combined with a steel plate that integrates both the fireplace and the television, turning it into a highly functional design feature.
The entire distribution of the house was conceived so that the sea would always be the protagonist, allowing its stunning views to be enjoyed from every corner of the home—one of the key principles of this coastal home renovation in Salou.

Elegance in Double Height
The dining room of this coastal home renovation in Salou stands out as one of the most visually striking spaces, thanks to its impressive double height.
The room is dominated by a square table with a transparent glass top and a sculptural woven wooden base, an inherited piece that we chose to preserve for its perfect fit within the space and its unique identity.
Art and Design for a Mediterranean Dining Room
To accompany this distinctive glass table, we selected enveloping beige velvet chairs that provide both softness and comfort.
Balancing the generous ceiling height, a sculptural chandelier by the Dutch brand Quasar—shaped like a cluster of grapes—floats above the table like a suspended work of art, reinforcing the verticality and striking presence of the space.
This Mediterranean dining room design captures the essence of elegance and creativity, merging art, functionality, and atmosphere into a cohesive and sophisticated environment.
A Modern Mediterranean Kitchen Designed for Sharing
The kitchen was the interior space in the greatest need of transformation, so it was conceived as a completely new environment—not only a place for cooking, but also a space for sharing family moments.
Fully oriented toward the outdoors, it embraces the privileged sea views that define this coastal home renovation in Salou.
At its center, a large island organizes the entire layout, housing Pitt Cooking gas burners seamlessly integrated into a durable gray Neolith countertop.
This minimalist and functional solution establishes the kitchen as both elegant and practical.
On the opposite side, a rustic-style bar with stools encourages interaction, reflecting the open and participatory spirit that runs throughout the house.
The whole area is framed by a curved, backlit false ceiling that adds warmth and reinforces the identity of the space in a subtle yet distinctive way.
The Master Suite: An Intimate Retreat Facing the Sea
On the first floor, we discover the master suite—conceived as a true private retreat. As expected, the bedroom is fully oriented toward the sea, with the bed placed in a privileged position to enjoy uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean.
The customade headboard, upholstered in a geometric padded fabric by Casamance, becomes the focal point of the space.
On either side, smoked mirror panels amplify natural light and multiply the sense of spaciousness, while also adding a refined touch of elegance to the room.
The ensemble is completed with custom-designed Defense nightstands in a rectangular format and two golden pendant lamps. The perfect finishing detail for this exceptional bedroom within a luxury coastal renovation in Spain.
Elegance and Functionality in a Calm Space
The master bathroom has been largely preserved, with only a light restoration and the addition of a bespoke vanity area for the owner.
This detail enhances daily functionality and turns the bathroom into a highly personal and intimate space—perfectly aligned with the spirit of Mediterranean master suite design.
A Serene Bedroom with the Sea on the Horizon
This bedroom opens fully to the Mediterranean through a floor-to-ceiling window that frames the landscape like a work of art.
Much like the master suite, it is entirely oriented toward the sea, making the views the true centerpiece of the space.
The walls are clad in an elegant Phillip Jeffries wallpaper, while two decorative cushions in a striking Larsen fabric add a splash of color.
The clean lines, the warmth of natural wood, and a textile palette of white, gray, and blue infuse the room with calmness and freshness.
Every detail has been designed to create an intimate retreat where serenity and light are the absolute protagonists.
From Annex Apartment to Luxury Suites
The annex building, originally conceived as an independent apartment, was transformed—at the family’s request—into two separate suites designed to offer privacy and maximum comfort for their daughters.
To achieve this, the interior staircase connecting the two floors was closed off, ensuring independence both functionally and acoustically.
Both suites share the same furniture configuration: while the upper floor bathroom was preserved in its original state, the lower floor was reimagined with a completely new design.
The new bathroom was clad with Wow porcelain tiles in two different formats to create rhythm and texture.
Paired with terracotta-colored grout and a countertop basin in the same shade, it conveys a youthful, fresh, and playful atmosphere—an elegant touch within this luxury coastal renovation in Salou.

In collaboration with a wonderful family, we transformed a seafront property on the Costa Dorada into a warm, luminous, and character-filled home.
A project where Mediterranean interior design and a coastal home renovation in Salou come together to create a lifestyle fully connected to the sea.
A Mediterranean Oasis to Enjoy All Year on the Costa Dorada
The most radical transformation of this project has undoubtedly taken place outdoors. With the sea as a backdrop, the exterior was reimagined as a Mediterranean oasis designed to be enjoyed every day of the year.
We completely renovated the outdoor areas, redefining their use, aesthetics, and functionality.
The first space to undergo a full transformation in this coastal home renovation in Salou was the swimming pool.
Originally existing but outdated, it was completely redesigned in both configuration and aesthetics.
The choice of Bera&Beren Biscuit porcelain by Living Ceramics in 90×90 format unified the entire outdoor flooring and pool, thanks to its tone that blends seamlessly with the interior travertine, its variety of formats, and its high durability.
An Exterior that Shines on Its Own
One of the challenges to address in the outdoor areas was lighting. In its original state, the garden could not be enjoyed at night due to the lack of visibility.
For this reason, we designed the garden and pergola lighting to highlight both the architecture and landscaping, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere at dusk.
Subtle lighting points were integrated into pavements, walls, and vegetation, avoiding excess prominence while reinforcing the continuous reading of the space.
Thanks to this carefully planned landscape lighting, the exterior of this
A mediterranean home in Salou has been transformed into a versatile and lively stage: the perfect setting for intimate evenings with family or gatherings with friends.
The New Pergola: Epicenter of Mediterranean Outdoor Living
Taking advantage of a previously underutilized area, we created a new outdoor zone that incorporates a kitchen, dining space, and a large custom-made pergola.
Strategically positioned between the main house, the annex, and the pool, it enhances the connection across the property.
We built a large platform on the same level as the rest of the paving and installed a tailor-made pergola fully integrated into the architecture.
It now serves as a natural extension of the home, offering a year-round space for Mediterranean outdoor living design—a true epicenter of life in the open air.
Outdoor Kitchen Sketch
Outdoor Kitchen with Argentine Grill
As the backdrop to the pergola, we find one of the jewels of this coastal home renovation in Salou: a bespoke outdoor kitchen featuring a traditional Argentine-style grill.
This tailor-made space is fully integrated into the garden thanks to the cladding of the kitchen modules in the same porcelain used for the flooring, ensuring visual harmony throughout the entire outdoor area.
The kitchen is equipped with integrated appliances and a custom stainless-steel work zone that includes a sink, an adjustable grill, a griddle, and a charcoal-making section—designed entirely to the owners’ specifications.
A perfect example of Mediterranean outdoor kitchen design that blends functionality, craftsmanship, and elegance.
An Outdoor Lounge Designed for Sharing by the Sea
Next to the pergola, and with carefully selected Zavotti furniture, we created a generous dining area with a long table, perfect for enjoying meals and dinners with family and friends.
The lounge area includes a large L-shaped sofa, a standalone armchair, and a set of side tables designed for shared moments overlooking the Mediterranean.
The furniture palette, chosen in stone tones with accents of vibrant Klein blue, adds both elegance and freshness.
The ensemble is completed with cushions in shades of blue and white that harmonize seamlessly with the surrounding coastal landscape.
