Altru House
The roof was transformed from being a simple construction termination element into a fantastic terrace with views over the city. Likewise, the roof’s perimeter was converted into a glazed balustrade, providing complete transparency.
For the floor finishing, we used a Timbertech synthetic decking, which helped us to level the slopes of the roof and allowed us to reach the terrace’s last step height. A different and extended script, which improved the general approach to the house.
Single-family home renovation project in Collserola
In this case, it is a renovation project for a single-family home in the heart of the Collserola Park. It offers exceptional views of the city of Barcelona, making it a real viewpoint.
The commission for this project arose from a meeting with an old design school friend who contacted us because he wanted to renovate his living room, including a new fireplace in the house he had just moved into.
The house, located in a special place in Barcelona (the “Carretera de les Aigües”), had many possibilities due to its privileged position. Its magnificent views of the city, in a natural setting, made it a unique single-family home project.
Seeing this home’s possibilities, we proposed a radical change to the original concept. The flat was divided in two levels due to the service staircase, which served solely and exclusively to access the roof, and became the key to this single-family house renovation project. Therefore, one of the first decisions we took was to change its direction.
What apparently seemed simple, was not so simple. The staircase had to be a light and transparent element. We came up with the idea of making a glass pavilion, a design structure that would serve, at the same time, to give access to the terrace, but also to add natural light to the rest of the house. The idea worked; more space in the living room, a staircase integrated into the fireplace unit and a fantastic entrance of natural light illuminating the entire ground floor.

For the living area design we added a grey chenille upholstered chaiselongue sofa, by Molins Design, a coffee table with black braided leatherette by Naturtex and the spectacular lamp, one of the great icons of lighting design, the famous Arco model by Flos.
