Rechson Penthouse
The spectacular staircase that connects the two floors of this duplex penthouse plays a fundamental role in the design. Both architecturally and decoratively, it is an essential part of this spectacular home. It is undoubtedly a luxury interior design work for a penthouse in Madrid.
The staircase is built in two sections, the first one acts as a bookshelf tribune fully integrated into the space, while the second one breaks with this concept, providing lightness and suspension, accompanied by a metal and wooden handrail.
Luxury interior design project in Madrid, a penthouse located in "El Viso"
Certainly, the design proposal of the Rechson Penthouse is one of our most relevant luxury interior design projects for penthouses in Madrid. It is part of our architectural interventions, originating in a peculiar new construction.
Thanks to our years of experience in the sector, we were able to intervene in this interior design and its distribution from the first phase of executive plans.
The house is located in the district of Chamartín, in the well-known neighbourhood of ‘El Viso’, and already had generous dimensions: 210 m2 interior and 142 m2 of terrace.
At Molins Design we often work on this type of high standing projects in the capital. In this case, we thought of the wide range of possibilities that this exclusive home offered us. The objective was to develop a unique luxury interior design project for a penthouse in Madrid.
Initially, this two-storey house was conceived as two independent flats, so resolving the connection between the two floors was a great challenge that was masterfully resolved.
The interior design proposal for this high-end project in Madrid encompasses two floors of the same dwelling; a first level, where the entire service and daily use area is located; a first floor, very luminous, unique and exclusive, where we find a beautiful office area and a large terrace that occupies a large part of the roof.
The generously sized lounge area is directly connected to the dining room and the semi-open kitchen.
Undoubtedly, the shape of the floor plan allowed us to arrange the lounge seating in a “U” shape, a layout that invites conversation and socialising.
The sofa, the two armchairs and a large double chaise longue provide a large number of seats available to enjoy the comfort and spaciousness of the space. Comfort is not at odds with high quality interior design.
Likewise, the colours chosen to decorate the living room, among which brown, grey and beige tones play a fundamental role in bringing elegance, timelessness and sobriety to the whole.
The choice of flooring was quite important, and in this case we opted for the installation of a large-format oak wood floor, with a textured finish and bevelled wooden boards. Undoubtedly, a choice that brings elegance to this luxury interior design project.
Of course, home automation and lighting play a fundamental role in this luxury interior design project for a penthouse in Madrid.
We designed a technological home automation system with which to control all the rooms with a single click, through the use of different applications that allow access to temperature, enclosures, lighting and even audio and video systems, among others.
On the other hand, the interior lighting design also plays an important role in this refurbishment that aspires to premium comfort.
The lights in this house combine and play perfectly with direct light, and also with indirect light; spots, LED strips and lamps of various kinds. Of course, all of this allows the house to be transformed at night and to show its most theatrical and suggestive side.
One of the premises for this luxury interior design project for a penthouse in Madrid was to look for ingenious and very creative solutions. For example, the installation of a spectacular bar unit hidden behind a large piece of marble that covers and conceals it. An exuberant and luxurious piece in all its dimensions.
The dimensions and the contrast of the marble wall with the adjoining dark wood that houses the television and the fireplace create an atmosphere that invites leisure and enjoyment.
On the side of the furniture housing the TV and the fireplace, we created an original structure with open and backlit niches perfect for displaying books and other decorative elements.
One of the advantages we have in this luxury interior design project for a penthouse in Madrid is the square metres available. Thanks to this, the dimensions of the dining area allow us to design a square table with two chairs with armrests on each side. Of course, a table format that allows for greater fluidity of conversation and interaction between diners, as the distance from the centre is the same for everyone.
The glass enclosure with sliding doors that separates the dining area from the kitchen has a system that allows the splendour of the kitchen interior to be shown or hidden from the view of the diners.
Contrasting materials
In the kitchen, the design proposal was based on a play of contrasts between the zebrano wood, which stands out for its striking and characteristic appearance that makes it unique and highly decorative, and the black granite with golden veins, a combination with a sophisticated air with the material as the protagonist.
“Interior equipment is impressive and very functional. The opening systems are fully automated to provide a great cooking experience".
This kitchen is located in one of the corners of the house, with an unusual entrance of natural light on two of its sides, which allowed us to design a space in which the dark tones of the zembrano wood of the upper cabinets and the black granite of the kitchen island stand out.
On the island we located the cooking area and an office area with stools for breakfast and daily meals, thus achieving a design that combines functionality and striking decorative style.
The perfect kitchen
The beauty and naturalness of granite
The kitchen worktop is a very demanding element that requires a highly resistant and durable material.
For this reason, one of the most popular materials for kitchen worktops is granite, which is very hard and aesthetically appealing.
Its sumptuous beauty is due to its characteristic veins of different tones, grains and colours that adapt to any type of kitchen.
In this case we chose black granite to design the kitchen island to create a luxurious and sophisticated style surface, ideal for this decorative project.
The transition between two architectural planes is always a good place to propose original solutions. In this case, it was a key point to resolve in this project, and it has become one of the jewels of the home.
Certainly, the stairs are the backbone of the project, a decisive element that goes beyond resolving a functional requirement to become a participatory element and the formal summary of the conceptual aesthetic project.
The material chosen for the design of these stairs was wood, very present in different elements of this project, such as the flooring and a large part of the furniture.
The first section of the staircase is solid and consistent, to become a lighter and more ethereal design in the upper section.
The suite designed in this luxury interior design work for a penthouse in Madrid becomes one of the most well-kept and sophisticated spaces in the home.
Its dressing room and bedroom share the same space. In both areas, attention to detail and neatness in the finishes have defined the script to be followed. A real luxury and pleasure for the senses.
To crown the bedroom we designed a spectacular upholstered headboard that occupies the entire verticality of the bed. A custom-made piece that adds comfort and warmth to the space.
The backlighting system that surrounds the headboard creates a suggestive play of light in the bedroom, perfect for creating different types of ambience.
In front of the bed we discover one of the most unique pieces in the bedroom. This is the sliding door with an aged mirror front that occupies the entire wall panel. It also separates the bed area from the bathroom.
This element, custom-designed by our team, adds light and spaciousness to the room, as well as providing character and undeniable style.
The opening of the mirror-fronted sliding doors shows us the spectacular bathroom that hides behind them. To design it, we chose the same chromatic range used in the bedroom and the dressing room, to create visual continuity throughout the space.
The design of this bathroom had to be in keeping with the exclusivity of the rest of the house. Therefore, the luxury interior design project for a penthouse in Madrid addressed the issue of the taps. Traditional models were abandoned in favour of a cascade tap design that stylishly accompanies the chosen white veined marble washbasin.
These pieces add elegance and sophistication to a room that has all the luxurious details, both functional and aesthetic.
A luxury bathroom
In the en-suite bathroom, white marble floods our senses and makes this bathroom a majestic place.
In addition, this space gets a differentiating element: a vanity unit finished in glossy lacquer. The piece functions as a container for utensils required by the daily use of its owners.
Custom furniture design
At Molins Design we make all types of furniture to measure in order to find the ideal solution for the space and the needs of each client.
In this bathroom, for example, we designed the vanity unit and the backlit mirror to the millimetre. We also did the same with the bathtub. The aim was to be able to enjoy a personalised space with all the required features. Undoubtedly, luxury and high standing in the bathroom.
Having a complete and large dressing room is probably one of the greatest dreams of any person. Well, in this luxury interior design project for a penthouse in Madrid, we were able to make it happen.
The space, in chromatic harmony with the rest of the rooms in the suite, exudes elegance and luxury on all four sides.
To design it, we chose lacquered wardrobe fronts that allow us to enjoy a dressing room that is always perfectly organised.
The backlit shoe rack and the display cabinet with pull-out tray in the suite are the great exponents of the retail references in this home.

Sketch of the terrace enclosure
The owners’ office is located in one of the most privileged areas of this luxury penthouse in Madrid. It is located on the top floor, next to the spectacular terrace that surrounds it.
The floor has an independent office area, equipped with a spectacular oak table and a complete bookcase. It is a living area to disconnect from work and a complete bathroom, entirely designed by our team of interior designers.
In this outdoor area we integrated solar protection elements of different typologies. Our aim was to make the terrace area suitable for daily use, both in extremely sunny conditions and on rainy days.
Likewise, some of the terrace materials we used in this duplex penthouse in Madrid were brisoleys, blinds or screens.
After the interior tour we arrive at the wonderful terrace that crowns the spectacular luxury interior design project in Madrid. More than 140 m2 of terrace with views of the capital, where we designed different atmospheres. Undoubtedly, one of the jewels of this project developed by the Molins Design team.
Firstly, a living area. Then, an outdoor dining room with barbecue. Finally, the exclusive swimming pool that turns this space into a combination of luxury and comfort in equal parts.
A chill out under the shade of an olive tree
The chill out area we designed for the terrace of this spectacular penthouse in Madrid is very cosy. It is equipped with a comfortable corner sofa in grey tones and zig zag back cushions. It is a decorative solution with a contemporary trend, in keeping with the overall design of the house.
Upper floor sketch
In the outdoor spaces, the plant proposal designed for the whole complex is really surprising. The owner of this luxury penthouse in Madrid, a botany enthusiast, defined the different species that perfectly matched the building’s orientation.
Following this premise, a vertical garden was selected as the best option to dress the south exterior wall, presenting an amazing perimeter view.
