Rechson Penthouse
The spectacular staircase that connects the two floors of this duplex penthouse has a fundamental role in the architectural and decorative design of the home.
Built in two sections, the first one acts as a bookcase that is fully integrated into the space, while the second one breaks with this concept by providing lightness and suspension, accompanied by a metal and wooden handrail.
Luxury interior design project in Madrid, a penthouse located in "El Viso"
The Rechson renovation proposal is one of our most relevant luxury interior design projects in Madrid, which is part of our architectural interventions, originated in an unusual new construction.
Thanks to our years of experience in the field, we were able to work on the interior design and its distribution from the first phase of executive plans.
The property is located in the Chamartín district, in the well-known neighbourhood of ‘El Viso’, and had generous dimensions: 210 m2 of interior space and 142 m2 of terrace.
Initially, this two floors home was conceived as two independent flats, so solving the connection between the two floors was a great challenge, masterfully solved.
At Molins Design we worked on this type of luxury interior design project in Madrid. To do so, we thought about the wide range of possibilities offered by this splendid designer penthouse.
The proposal we had in our hands encompasses two floors of the same house; a first level, where all the services and daily use area is located, while on the first floor, very bright, unique and exclusive, we find a beautiful office area and a large terrace that sits on a large part of the roof.
The generously sized lounge area is directly connected to the dining room and the semi-open kitchen. The shape of the floor plan allowed us to arrange the lounge seating in a “U” shape, a layout that invites conversation and socializing. The sofa, the two armchairs and a large double chaise longue provide numerous seats available to enjoy the comfort and spaciousness of the space.
The colors chosen to decorate the living room, among which brown, gray and beige tones stand out, play a fundamental role in bringing elegance, timelessness and sobriety to the whole.
The choice of flooring was quite important, and in this case we opted for the installation of a large-format oak wood floor, with a textured finish and beveled wooden slats.
Home automation and lighting are playing a crucial role in this interior design project. We designed a technological home automation system with which to control all the rooms with a single click, through the use of different applications that allow access to temperature, enclosures, lighting and even audio and video systems, among others.
On the other hand, the interior lighting design also acquires a relevant role in this reform and interior design in Madrid. The lights of this house combine and play perfectly with direct light. But also with indirect light, spots, LED strips and lamps of various kinds. All this allows the house to transform at night and show its most theatrical and suggestive side.
The sculptural staircase integrates in an extraordinary way with the decorative proposal of the living and dining room, which is characterized by expressing a contemporary, urban and sophisticated style. The minimalism of the spaces contrasts with the warmth of the materials and the furniture custom-made by our team, in most of the cases.
To design this project we looked for ingenious and very creative solutions, such as the installation of a spectacular bar unit hidden behind a large piece of marble that covers and conceals it.
The dimensions and the contrast of the marble wall with the adjacent dark wood that houses the television and the fireplace create an atmosphere that invites leisure and enjoyment.
On the side of the furniture housing the TV and the fireplace, we created an original structure with open and backlit niches perfect for displaying books and other decorative elements.
The dimensions of the dining area allow us to design a square table with two chairs with armrests on each side, a table format that allows a greater flow of conversation and interaction between diners, as the distance from the centre is the same for everyone.
Contrasting materials
In the kitchen, the design proposal was based on a game of contrasts between the zebrano wood, which stands out for its striking and characteristic appearance that makes it unique and highly decorative, and the black granite with golden veins, a sophisticated combination with the material as the main protagonist.

“The interior equipment is impressive and very functional. The opening systems are fully automated to provide a great cooking experience".
The kitchen is located in one of the corners of the house, with an unusual entrance of natural light on two of its sides, which allowed us to design a space in which the dark tones of the zembrano wood of the upper cabinets and the black granite of the kitchen island stand out.
On the island we located the cooking area and an office area with stools for breakfast and daily meals, thus achieving a design that combines functionality and striking decorative style.
The perfect kitchen
The beauty and naturalness of granite
The kitchen worktop is a very demanding element that requires a highly resistant and durable material. For this reason, one of the most popular materials for kitchen worktops is granite, which is very hard and aesthetically appealing.
Natural granite stands out for its high level of hardness and resistance to erosion. Its great beauty is due to its characteristic veins of different tones, grains and colors that adapt to any type of kitchen. In this case, we chose black granite to design the kitchen island to create a luxurious and sophisticated surface, ideal for this decorative project.

The transition between two architectural planes is always a good place to propose original solutions. In this case, it was a key point to resolve, and it has become one of the jewels of the house. The stairs are the backbone of the project, a decisive element that goes beyond resolving a functional requirement to become a participatory element and the summary of the formal aesthetic project.
The material chosen for the design of these stairs was wood, which is very present in different elements of this project, such as the flooring and a large part of the furniture. The first section of the staircase is solid and consistent, to become a lighter and more ethereal design in the upper section.
The suite in this penthouse in Madrid has become one of the most cared and sophisticated spaces in the home. Its dressing room and bedroom share the same space, in which attention to detail and neatness in the finishes have defined the script to be followed. A true luxury and pleasure for the senses.
In order to crown the bedroom, we designed a spectacular upholstered headboard that occupies the entire verticality of the bed, a custom-made piece that adds comfort and warmth to the space. The backlighting system that surrounds the headboard creates a subtle touch of light in the bedroom, perfect for creating different types of ambience.

In front of the bed, we discover one of the most distinctive pieces in the bedroom: the sliding door with an aged mirror front, which occupies the entire wall panel that separates the bed area from the bathroom. This element, custom-designed by our team, adds light and spaciousness to the room, as well as providing character and undeniable character and style.
The opening of the mirror-fronted sliding doors reveals the spectacular bathroom hidden behind them. To design it, we chose the same chromatic range used in the bedroom and the dressing room, to create visual continuity throughout the space.
For the design of this bathroom, instead of traditional taps, we chose a waterfall tap design that stylishly accompanies the white veined marble bathroom sink. These pieces add elegance and sophistication to a room that has every luxury of detail, both functional and aesthetic.
A luxury bathroom
Once inside the en-suite bathroom, the full presence of white marble overwhelms our senses and makes this bathroom a majestic place.
In addition, this space gets a differentiating element: a vanity unit finished in glossy lacquer, serving as a container for everyday utensils required by its owners.
Custom furniture design
At Molins Design we customize all types of furniture to find the ideal solution for the space and needs of each client.
In this bathroom, for example, we designed the vanity unit, the backlit mirror and the bathtub to the millimeter in order to enjoy a personalized space with all the required features.

Having a complete and large dressing room is probably one of the greatest dreams of any person and, for this project, we were able to make it happen.
The space, in complete chromatic harmony with the rest of the ambience in the suite, emanates elegance and luxury on all four sides.
To design this space, we chose lacquered wardrobe fronts that allow us to enjoy a dressing room that is always perfectly organized. The backlit shoe rack and the display cabinet with pull-out tray in the suite are the great exponents of the retail references in this home.
In the night area of the house, we designed a guest bedroom with its own complete bathroom, an environment that offers comfort and elegance, without overloading the space.
Although it has few elements, like the rest of the project, we carefully chose all the materials and fabrics that make up the bedroom and the bathroom to offer a contemporary warm image, but with personality.

Sketch of the terrace enclosure

The owners’ office is located in one of the most privileged areas of this luxury penthouse; on the top floor, next to the spectacular terrace that surrounds it.
It is equipped with a spectacular oak table and a complete bookcase, a sitting area to disconnect from work and a complete bathroom, entirely custom-designed by our team of interior designers.
In this outdoor area, we integrated solar protection elements of different typologies. Our aim was to make the terrace area suitable for daily use, both in extremely sunny conditions and on rainy days.
Likewise, some of the terrace materials we used in this duplex penthouse were brise soleil, blinds and screens.
After the whole interior tour, we arrive at the marvelous terrace that tops the spectacular interior design project created by our team. More than 140 m2 of terrace overlooking the capital, where we designed different atmospheres, a living area, an outdoor dining room with barbecue and the exclusive swimming pool that makes this space a fabulous and luxurious proposal in equal parts.

In the outdoor spaces, the plant proposal designed for the whole complex is astounding. The owner of this luxury penthouse in Madrid, a botany enthusiast, defined the different species that perfectly matched the building’s orientation.
Following this premise, a vertical garden was selected as the best option to dress the south exterior wall, presenting an amazing surrounding view.
