Xup Xup Restaurant
For the design of the restaurant’s first room, the dining area is perfectly combined with a majestic bar, custom designed by our team, with rustic pine wood stained in black and a Cosentino marble top. On this piece we also created a shelf set that functions as a cellar for wine and cava: the two great stars of the room.
On one side we designed an orange bench, made by Molins Design with fabric by Gastón & Daniela, together with tables with a quartz top and iron base, also designed by our studio.
As far as lighting is concerned, we used old wine barrels to create some marvellous designer lamps.
The ceiling lights, which look like suspended canvases, were designed and made by Molins Design with fabrics from the traditional “bundle” scarf.
Designed for the Arts Catering group, the Xup Xup restaurant design was Casadecor Barcelona 2009 edition’s “gastronomic stop”, as a unique experience for the five senses and a splendid commercial design for restaurants.
Located in the basement of the wonderful modernist building Casa Llorens, in Enric Granados and Córcega street junction, in the heart of Barcelona’s Eixample, and thanks to its complete refurbishment we managed to turn it into one of the most important projects for design restaurants in Barcelona for Molins Design.
For this refurbishment, our team of professionals proposed a new layout for the restaurant, organised into three intentionally differentiated rooms in terms of gastronomic interior design.
Although we decided to separate them into different spaces, each of these rooms has a common thread: the kitchen utensils used at the beginning of the century as essential decorative elements of great aesthetic value.

This unique space, designed as an amphitheatre, consists of a Molins custom-designed structure as a display element for Selecta beers which, thanks to the covered walls with copper-coloured mirrors and the play of light provided by Lumens, replicates the bottles, creating a magical and infinite effect in the atmosphere.
The second room plays with a very original design and restaurant equipment.
Based on the mortar’s chromatic range, the colours green and yellow merge in this room creating a comfortable and cosy area for diners.
An oversized replica of the particular green stain of the mortar, designed by our team of professionals, will be the star of one of the main walls, sharing the limelight with a 7-metre pine wood trunk carved in a single piece, which will serve as a bar to share with other diners, in which we added stools to match the chairs, in yellow and green by Ziru Contract.
Details are essential elements in any interior design project, whether domestic or commercial, as we can see in these spaces. Traditional mortars are used as original pots for the small olive trees that decorate the tables, as well as the selection of tableware and the structure designed by our team as a wall sculpture, in which we replicated light fitting curves, made from micro-perforated DM and painted in the same chromatic range as the one used in this ambience.
