Revià Villa
For the design of this spectacular rustic house in the Empordà we were inspired by the rustic-contemporary-style stone house constructions.
Without playing down the importance of colour, we wanted to maintain the use of natural stone, an essential feature of the farmhouses in this area, and as an element of architectural contrast, we installed black enclosures. These pieces combine perfectly with the tones of the stone.
In houses with a garden like this one, it is of vital importance to make the most of the space. For this reason, we installed a large outdoor swimming pool, with its corresponding outdoor furniture. The aim was to create a rustic house in l’Empordà with an outdoor space for relaxation and large garden areas.
One of the greatest aesthetic and constructive achievements of this house is its dry stone wall. This is a construction technique, very typical of the Mediterranean coast and pre-coastal area. In this case, it was placed in the courtyard outside the house.
Located in one of the most privileged locations on the Costa Brava is Revià Villa, a large rustic house in l’Empordà. In this interior design and decoration project, Molins Design has developed one of the most important rustic style renovation carried out by our interior design studio.
This single-family country house has a large rectangular floor plan on a sloping floor, with different levels. Far from being a drawback, this peculiar interior architecture became the template for the development of a completely new project.
En cuanto al diseño interior, la planta baja rectangular es la columna vertebral de la casa. Adosados a ella, encontramos dos niveles o plantas de media altura. Ambas áreas están unidas por amplias escaleras y precisas líneas diagonales.
The premise was clear: not to forget that we were in the middle of nature. It was necessary to maintain its prominence in the interior design and decoration of the house. It was even a key objective to blend in with this nature. We also wanted to integrate with the local buildings and construction methods.
Wood is undoubtedly the protagonist of this rustic house in l’Empordà, as we can see at the entrance.
It can be found in the cladding, the flooring and in much of the furniture. Its prominence is mainly due to the necessary integration with nature and the organic elements that surround the house.
The fireplace-included living room in Revià Villa is one of the most comfortable rustic-style living areas we have yet designed. For this room we opted for natural wood, a material that combines perfectly with the style of the house.
Sofas, rugs and curtains were installed all in the same chromatic range, with earthy colours as the main protagonists, evoking the rural area in which the house is located.
The design of interior fireplaces was a key point in the renovation of this dining room. Our client wanted this room to be the basic centre of the house. A place to enjoy a good read in front of the smell and warmth of burning wood. To achieve this, our team of professionals custom-designed the bookcase that houses the television and the integrated fireplace.
For the design of this rustic house in l’Empordà we opted for the customised design of a magnificent isled-kitchen, created by our team.
The main objective in this space was to make the most of light coming through the large windows, as well as to fully optimise the available surface area.
With the design of the large kitchen isle we managed to create a wonderful high table, equipped with synthetic rattan stools, where the whole family can gather for lunches and dinners.
The dining room stands out with the placement of a large table, together with a set of chairs from the stool’s same collection and two spectacular suspended lamps that illuminate the table top balanced and homogeneously.
In all the rooms of the house we opted for the creation of modern bedrooms. The furniture and objects chosen combine perfectly with the rustic style of the country houses we know. In this renovation, wood and the range of earthy brown colours are once again the protagonists.
The use of neutral and sober tones help us to perfectly express the ambiguity between sea and mountain, so we use natural materials such as wood and stone, both in the master bedroom and in the integrated bathroom, for which we designed an original washbasin unit, also made to measure in treated wood.
On the upper floor we designed a multi-purpose room, equipped with a large sofa with drawers which conceal auxiliary beds to receive guests, as well as adding some orange pouffes as elements that provide an informal chromatic contrast to the space.
The leisure room, equipped with a pool table and a bar with stools, is one of the highlights of this unique home in L’Empordà.
For its design we chose the same type of wood to cover the walls as if it were a plinth and we designed a custom-made backlit bar and leather stools.
