Baqueira Apartment
At an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level and in a privileged natural location, in the heart of the Pyrenees, is this interior design and decoration project in wood for apartment in the mountains of 80m2 for leisure and family enjoyment especially during the snow season.
A project of design and decoration with rustic wooden furniture for apartment in the mountains that has required the calculation to the millimeter and that, after the integral reform, has been transformed into a private oasis of disconnection in the middle of nature.
A contemporary mountain house with minimalist features, but with a warm and cozy atmosphere, ideal for reconnecting and relaxing, immersed in the unique beauty of the Pyrenees.
Interior design and decoration in wood for apartment in the mountains
The briefing of the interior design project for this apartment with a fireplace is based on a family script of a married couple with two children, who want to make the most of the apartment and turn it into their private refuge to enjoy with family and guests.
The big question to solve in this project of interior design and decoration in wood for apartment in the mountains was to enjoy an open day area that meets these three functions and allocate the remaining space to three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Considering the limited square meters, the proposal was clear: a distribution as open and participatory as possible, where living room, dining room and kitchen were included in a single environment.
Everything starts from the desire to create a space within the same space, through the approach of a three-dimensional arrangement. The vertical and horizontal axes converge, with the intention that all elements are within the same spatial pattern.
Upon entering this cozy mountain house, we are greeted by a hallway entirely clad in wood that gives access to the children’s bedrooms and the day area of the apartment. A cladding designed to give an image of a sober and fully integrated block, broken only by an illuminated ceiling coving.
A large niche is the only element that breaks the volumetry and at the same time marks a line of horizontality.
Hall blueprint elevation
The rustic sofa is one of the protagonists of the space. A wonderful corner sofa in the same oak wood as the rest of the furniture and upholstered with an exclusive green wool fabric by Loro Piana. Behind the sofa there are privileged views of the valley.
A bouclé fabric sofa is dressed in custom-made decorative cushions in a delicate checkered wool marbled also by Loro Piana and chalk white wool squares by Designers Guild.
This cozy modern rustic dining room is finished off with a beige wool rug, as well as a set of custom-made modular poufs as a coffee table with an oak frame and upholstered seats with bouclé fabric upholstery.
For the dining area, an oval-shaped table has been custom designed in solid oak wood, where we have played with slats with the same grain of the top to cover the central leg and thus provide a point of rhythm to the whole set of rustic style furniture.
One of the key points that acquires special importance in this project of interior design and decoration in wood for apartment in the mountains, is the horizontal level of forty centimeters high.
This height is specially designed for the space and is used in the porcelain block tailor made – in this case, with the Top Jasper finish by Inalco – which dresses the entire living area.
This porcelain block goes from the lower part of the fireplace and in the dining room, it becomes the bench where to sit next to the oval oak table.
This beautiful and cozy corner of a mountain house is complemented by a set of padded circular cushions made especially for the dining room bench in fabric from Les Créations de la Maison
In this project of decoration with rustic wooden furniture for apartment in the mountains, the open kitchen distills the same intention of creating a harmonious and aesthetically integrated visually with the rest of the set, being wood and porcelain, the protagonist materials.
The ninety-degree encounters of the different planes of the space and the rustic kitchen cabinets are resolved with a four-centimeter thick upright, allowing clean transitions between materials and planes.
Living room and kitchen elevation blueprint
At a functional level and considering the small size of this mountain house, the kitchen has a dividing bar with respect to the living room, which, through a play of heights, in its inner part, hides a countertop where to place small appliances for breakfast.
A detail to highlight is the thin profile of three millimeters that can be seen between the wooden slats of the dividing bar, made of the same stainless steel in gold finish as the paneling of the fireplace, thus providing a touch of very sophisticated contrast.
All the rustic furniture is clad in the same solid oak wood as the wall paneling. The only exception is in the vertical module next to the dividing bar, where a concession to transparency has been made.
In this vertical unit, a rustic kitchen cabinet has been designed as a dish cabinet with transparent glass that allows a view of the interior, as well as a small wine cabinet.
This project of interior design and decoration in wood for apartment in the mountains would certainly not have reached the same level of quality in finishes if we had not opted for underfloor heating as an air conditioning solution.
The elimination of exposed heating elements allowed to free the walls of unnecessary elements, and thus develop all kinds of sections without volumetric constraints.
The air conditioning control and the rest of the technological elements were solved by implementing a general home control system of the Gira brand.
This intelligent solution simplifies the elements as buttons on the walls, providing a great visual simplicity, and allowing to unify different commands in the same series of mechanisms.
At the same time, given the remote location of this apartment with fireplace, the home can be fully controlled through an application that integrates all the functionalities, in a completely personalized way.
House Tour Baqueira Apartment
Welcome to Baqueira Apartment.
We present you this interior design decoration with rustic wooden furniture for apartment in the mountains.
A warm and cozy mountain house of 80m2 that we have designed to the millimeter to turn it into a practical and functional refuge to enjoy the beauty of the Pyrenees.
A cozy bedroom with a fabric-covered headboard
The suite, with the same orientation as the living room, is hidden behind the oak paneling of the living room. In this bedroom upholstered headboard, we have tried to conceptually transfer the same volumetric play of ceilings and coffered ceilings.
To enhance the warm and cozy rustic effect of the mountain houses, the suite is completely covered in the same oak wood as the flooring.
The only exception and differential point is the bed, with an upholstered headboard that occupies the entire lower half of the wall. An upholstered bed headboard in Andrew Martin fabric that combines perfectly with the sand tones of the cushions and the blanket at the foot of the bed.
For the walls of the suite, we have chosen to cover them with wool in beige tones. This dressed solution, which is also applied in other rooms, gives us a sensory perception of maximum comfort and at the same time, solves the possible acoustic interference that can occur in a space of small dimensions.
This bedroom with upholstered headboard is complemented with two custom-made bedside tables made of the same oak wood, and a set of suspended lamps and two wall sconces incorporated into the upholstered bed headboard of the Aromas brand.
The master suite has its own bathroom thanks to small sliding doors that are hidden inside the side cabinets of the small dressing room.
Sketch of the suite bathroom
The design of the bathroom of the suite breathe the same rustic style furniture than the rest of the apartment. The great protagonist materials of the space are, again the oak wood and in this case, the Zellige tiles in vitrified finish in gray shades of Marazzi. A type of ceramic tile trend that dresses the walls of this bathroom.
Following the premise of making the most of the space and making the most of it, two decorative and functional niches were tailormade to give it a differential touch and at the same time, serve as a storage element.
In conjunction with the rest, there is a beautiful countertop sink in white ceramic Sira brand and a stylish curved faucet in brushed copper finish Iconico brand.
Behind the wood paneled walls of the foyer, the two bedrooms of the children of the family and a bathroom are hidden.
Both bedrooms have upholstered bed headboards, the same distribution and two single beds with folding chests to maximize space and gain storage capacity.
In the first of the bedrooms, highlights the bed with headboard upholstered in a fantastic fabric with striped print, Gaston and Daniela in navy blue and brown.
Between the beds, a Defense bedside table of our own design and lacquered in the same blue tone as the fabric-lined headboard has been placed. The set is finished with Erto wall sconces in round shapes by Aromas.
The other bedroom also has a fabric covered headboard and, the same layout as the previous one, stands out for its orange tones.
In this case, the upholstered bed headboard has been made with a nice, printed fabric in orange tones of Andrew Martin that brings a touch of freshness and combines with the stone tones of the flannel of the walls.
In this bedroom, we could not also miss a Defense console, this time in stone color and some orange lacquered sconces from Nexel.
