Zenital light
The zenithal light, as its name suggests, is the light that comes from the ceiling of the house. It is usually the general light that illuminates a room and provides the largest field of vision. In recent years, incandescent lamps have been abandoned in favour of LED technology. This type of lamps are much more efficient and have a much longer durability.
At Molins Design we usually work with the brand Iguzzini, which manufactures systems called laser blade. It is a type of downlight type interior lights that have different versions.
If you are looking for a general zenithal light, you can choose to place several laser blades on a rail installed on the ceiling. In this way, the lamps are “hidden” and the light appears to emanate from above. You can choose between lamps with different number of cells and also choose the degree of aperture.
At Molins we always opt for lamps with a temperature of 3000° because we believe that this is the appropriate intensity to achieve uniform and comfortable lighting.
Recessed lighting
Among the different types of lighting for interior spaces, we are now talking about recessed lighting. Troughs can also be considered as zenithal lighting, but they have special features that make them unique. When a pit is designed, a false ceiling with 2 levels is constructed, which is ideal for installing a hidden lighting system using LED technology.
The LED strip installed provides an indirect light that enhances the perimeter of the false ceiling and avoids annoying glare. In addition to giving prominence to the ceiling design, it makes it easier to highlight certain volumes. It also avoids shadows that could darken the area.
The pitting facilitates a general and uniform lighting, illuminating the space in the form of a bath of light. At Molins Design we have carried out many projects where tiling has been installed, for example, in dining areas.
Decorative lighting
Decorative lighting is a very wide field. They can range from lamps that are placed on tables and have a signalling function, to luminaires integrated into pieces of furniture.
At Molins Design we work a lot with silicone LED strips that we place in bookcases or niches. A 45-degree cut is made in the MDF board or wood where the silicone LED strip is inserted. The aim is that it is integrated and that the device is never in sight.
You can choose between placing the strip at the back of the hole or at the front. Depending on the choice, the light will be projected behind or in front of the object placed on the shelf. The hidden light effect is very attractive, and if several LED strips are activated at the same time, the light creates a very cosy atmosphere.
Spot light
Another interesting option are spotlights that emit light towards a specific point. At Molins, we are committed to the mini ceiling spots that Guzzini also manufactures. These are small spotlights that can be used to illuminate works of art or decorative objects that we want to highlight.
The combinations are numerous and it is possible to choose the intensity of the mini spot. It can be placed directly on the ceiling or integrated into a track with other fixtures. It can then be easily oriented in the right direction.
Mini spots are a very decorative and effective solution to avoid dark areas. They also efficiently solve the need for spot lighting. They can be used to revitalise the decoration of a space by highlighting certain specific pieces.
In addition, you can count on the classic table lamp that brings light to the tabletop and makes reading or working easier.
Passage lights
We are now talking about the essential lights that are essential for moving around safely in a home. Unfortunately, they are often forgotten about.
Passage lights are those that are installed in corridors, distributors or in front of doors. Undoubtedly, at Molins Design, we always recommend installing a system with a presence detector.
Firstly, because it is very convenient and, whenever we walk through the area, the light will turn on automatically. Secondly, the energy saving is indisputable. Lights will never be left on and will always be activated at the appropriate time.
This type of supplementary lighting is usually indirect lighting and illuminates the space generously.
Domotics and types of lighting for interior spaces
These are some of the possibilities offered by lighting in homes. The intervention of interior design professionals will undoubtedly help to choose the right model.
